今日のお推奨図書は「ニコラス・スパークス」の「The Notebook」です。
邦題：「君に読む物語」として映画にもなっています。
ベタベタの恋愛小説で、主人公は男性。TOEIC 650点ぐらいの時に読みました。
初めて読んだ洋書で、かなり時間がかかったのを覚えていますが、
今なら、おそらく４時間ぐらいで読み切れると思います。
恋愛小説なんてつまらないと言う人も多いと思います。そう言う私も大っ嫌い。
だけど、読み易さは、抜群です。
恋愛小説を読むメリット
（１）イメージがし易い。
（２）登場人物が少ない。
（３）後に映画やドラマになって、読み違い等を修正できる。
などなど、「The Notebook」を読んだのは映画化されるずっと前でした。
最近まで、映画化されたことも知らず、なんせ邦題が「君に読む物語」ですから、
「君に読む物語」が、『The Notebook』なんて想像できないでしょう。

あらすじ
さて、物語は、非常に生真面目な、青年が、自宅のロッジで回想するところから始まります。
戦争を経験したり、使えていたオーナーがなくなり、事業を引継ぎ、そこそこの財産を築くこと。
戦争で離れ離れになり、忘れていた恋人のこと。
そんな話が続いて、後味も抜群に良いです。
と言いたいところですが、ひねくれ者の私は、最後まで共感できず、
映画も今日まで見たことがないです。
ただ、読みやすさは本当です。
まだ洋書を読んだことはない人は、この本から始めると良いでしょう。
